McLaren Reported to Slash India Prices by About 38% Ahead of IndiaUK FTA

The reported cuts would pass expected tariff relief to buyers while actual savings remain conditional on ratification and final quota and eligibility rules.

Overview

  • Autocar India and other outlets report McLaren plans headline reductions of about 38 percent for select models, with the 750S coupe, 750S Spider and GTS shown with large lower price tags, but McLaren has not publicly confirmed the figures.
  • The reported new stickers would cut the 750S coupe to around Rs 4.94 crore from Rs 7.94 crore, the 750S Spider to about Rs 5.46 crore from Rs 8.78 crore, and the GTS to about Rs 3.83 crore from Rs 6.15 crore.
  • Those moves are being framed as pass-throughs of duty cuts negotiated in the India‑UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement that would lower import tax on eligible British petrol and diesel cars from 110 percent to 30 percent in year one and to 10 percent by year five.
  • The FTA is not yet in force and any price benefit depends on both governments exchanging ratification notifications, plus an annual import quota that caps eligible cars and must be shared across British marques, which could limit how many buyers see the lower prices.
  • Hybrid models such as the McLaren Artura do not qualify for reduced duties for the first five years, so price cuts will apply selectively and could shift which models buyers choose and how manufacturers allocate quota and shipments.
