McKee vs. Isbulaev Set to Decide Next PFL Featherweight Title Contender

PFL has framed the San Diego main event as a de facto title-eliminator that could send the winner into a shot at the vacant featherweight belt.

Overview

  • The nine-fight PFL San Diego card was finalized at official weigh-ins on Friday, June 26, with A.J. McKee vs. undefeated Salamat Isbulaev confirmed as the main event.
  • One fighter missed weight at the weigh-ins when bantamweight Sarvarjon Khamidov came in 1.6 pounds over and will be fined a portion of his purse.
  • McKee, a 31-year-old former Bellator featherweight champion with a 24-2 record, says he will push a high pace and exploit what he sees as weaknesses in Isbulaev’s stand-up game.
  • Isbulaev enters 10-0 and is coming off a PFL debut knockout of Jesus Pinedo, with coverage highlighting his wrestling base as the key tactical test for McKee.
  • PFL San Diego airs live on ESPN2 and ESPN+ with the main card at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and features supporting bouts including Liz Carmouche vs. Viviane Araujo and Alexandr Shabliy vs. Alfie Davis.
