McDonald’s Relaunches Monopoly With App-Based Play and $1 Million Top Prize

The chain is moving all prize redemption into its app to steer customers toward MyMcDonald’s Rewards and digital ordering.

Overview

  • McDonald’s announced Sept. 22 that Monopoly will run in U.S. restaurants from Oct. 6 through Nov. 1 with a limited-time rollout.
  • Players must pre-register in the McDonald’s app, opt into MyMcDonald’s Rewards, buy eligible menu items, peel physical stickers and scan codes in the app to play.
  • Prizes range from instant free food and 1,500–7,000 reward points to Collect-to-Win vacations and vehicles, with the $1 million advertised prize paid as a $50,000-per-year annuity over 20 years.
  • McDonald’s said it will distribute about 640,591,900 game pieces and will award bonus Chance Card plays for registered purchases through Nov. 1, while also offering a no-purchase mail-in entry option.
  • The promotion follows a 2025 U.S. comeback after a decade away and shifts to app-only gameplay in part to modernize redemption and reduce the security problems that plagued earlier Monopoly runs.
