McDonald’s Opens Darlington Distribution Hub Serving 200+ Restaurants and Creating 200 Jobs

The Darlington hub centralises the cold chain for 200+ restaurants to cut delivery miles in line with McDonald’s net‑zero plan.

Overview

  • The facility at Symmetry Park is now operational under logistics partner Martin Brower, consolidating frozen, chilled and ambient supplies for the North East.
  • Spanning roughly 130,000–138,000 square feet, the site is McDonald’s first regional distribution centre in the North East and one of five serving the UK and Ireland.
  • McDonald’s estimates an average one‑hour reduction in drive times and about 2.5 million road miles saved each year, which it says will lower supply‑chain emissions.
  • Built to BREEAM Excellent standards, the centre features on‑site solar generation plus 13 electric car chargers and 17 electric trailer points.
  • The hub supplies more than 200 restaurants from York to the Scottish Borders with 400+ products from 70+ suppliers and has created over 200 local jobs, with the opening marked by a visit from Darlington Borough Council leaders.
