Overview
- Municipal teams, supported by Delhi Police, removed unauthorised platforms, stairs and sheds outside roughly 70 shops in Blocks B and C, clearing about 380 metres of public road and sealing several outlets.
- Officials described the clearance as part of a West Zone campaign to restore right of way, following similar actions in Vishnu Garden, Milan Market and Pankha Road earlier in the week.
- Local residents said many affected shops were owned or tenanted by Muslims and complained the action was sudden and undertaken without notice, while authorities called it routine enforcement.
- The Delhi High Court restrained the civic body for one week from demolishing certain homes linked to people accused or questioned in the case after petitions by Shahnaz and Zarina.
- Police have detained 16 people, including two minors, on murder and SC/ST Act charges and are pursuing alleged misinformation related to the case, freezing a bank account linked to the accused’s family.
