Mazda CX-5 Previewed in Malaysia; Bookings Open with RM170,000 Estimate

Bermaz previewed the third‑generation Mazda CX‑5 at KLIMS in Kuala Lumpur and opened bookings immediately with an estimated starting price of RM170,000.
The company will bring the CX‑5 to Malaysia as a fully imported (CBU) model first and plans local CKD assembly to begin in about 12–16 months.
Bermaz confirmed it will sell the new CX‑5 alongside the outgoing second‑generation car, with the older model likely losing its 2.5‑litre engine and the new CX‑5 expected to be offered only with a 2.5‑litre e‑Skyactiv G mild‑hybrid.
The preview car is noticeably larger—measuring 4,690 mm long with a 2,815 mm wheelbase—and shows refreshed Kodo ‘Wearable Gear’ styling plus interior tech that swaps the commander knob and Mazda Connect for Android Automotive OS and a 12.9‑ or 15.6‑inch central screen.
Bermaz warned that specifications shown on the preview unit, including all‑wheel drive, brake‑by‑wire and final powertrain outputs, are provisional and may be revised before the official local launch.
