Max Verstappen To Chase 100 Rivals In Silverstone Karting Spectacle

Red Bull with Disney+ and ESPN will stage a live made-for-TV experiment that tests Verstappen’s racecraft, showcasing game-style graphics and new broadcast tools.

Overview

  • Red Bull announced Tuesday that four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen will start last in a 101-kart field at Silverstone on September 16 and attempt to overtake the 100 drivers ahead of him.
  • Organizers built a bespoke Silverstone kart layout by designer and race director David Terrien so all 101 karts can run together and to create overtaking lines that reward close racecraft.
  • A shakedown run using 50 karts has already taken place and prompted warnings from test driver Sebastian Job that passing 100 rivals within the event’s time window will be extremely difficult.
  • The field mixes Red Bull athletes, celebrities, streamers and fans with confirmed names including Arda Saatçi, Chris Matthews, Matt Jones, TheGrefg, Caedrel and TheDonato.
  • Disney+ will stream the live global production while the ESPN app will carry the U.S. feed and ESPN2 will air a delayed broadcast, a setup that lets Red Bull combine sporting spectacle with game-style graphics, drone coverage, live data and direct on-track radio between Verstappen and other drivers.
