- The Massachusetts Port Authority board gave preliminary approval on Thursday to move forward with a roughly four-year, billion-dollar-plus redevelopment of Terminal C.
- The plan would demolish Terminal C’s two narrow “hammerhead” concourses and replace them with a single hexagonal concourse featuring high ceilings, skylights, reconfigured gates, expanded shops and larger passenger areas.
- Under the proposed deal, JetBlue and Vantage Airport Group would finance and build the project, then lease the new terminal from Massport under an estimated 30–35 year agreement with Massport not contributing upfront capital.
- If timelines hold, Massport expects construction to break ground in about a year and take roughly four years to finish, with officials saying passenger disruption should be minimal during the work.
