Masson Leads Tight Imola Practice as Session Ends Early Under Red Flag

Limited running after multiple gravel excursions and a late collision leaves qualifying this afternoon pivotal for the 4 Hours of Imola grid.

Forestier Racing by Panis’ Esteban Masson set the fastest lap in Free Practice 2 with a 1:31.991 during the opening 20 minutes of the 90-minute session on Saturday morning.
Ian Aguilera finished almost level with Masson, less than 0.01 seconds behind, and United Autosports’ Grégoire Saucy completed the top three showing how closely matched the LMP2 field is.
The session saw two full-course yellows for gravel excursions at Acque Minerali caused by Doriane Pin and Custodio Toledo and was stopped early after Rene Binder and Nick Adcock collided at Tosa.
Class leaders emerging from the session were Pierre-Alexandre Provost in LMP3 with a 1:39.800 for the sole Duqueine D09 Toyota and Valentin Hasse-Clot in LMGT3 with a 1:41.688 in the Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin.
Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Imola is scheduled for later today at 14:55 CEST and will carry extra weight because the red flag and earlier interruptions limited teams’ final setup runs and late flying laps.
