Overview
- Sergio Massa, who appeared Wednesday before Federal Oral Court 5 in Comodoro Py as a witness, said there were breaches in the Madres de Plaza de Mayo housing projects in Tigre that led the municipality to halt the works.
- He told judges that Tigre filed no criminal complaints over those breaches and that he met Sergio Schoklender twice in connection with the projects.
- Massa added that the municipality finished the affected works with its own funds after national payments to the program stopped.
- Prosecutors allege that between 2008 and 2011 the Public Works Secretariat transferred 748,719,414 pesos to the foundation and that 206,438,454 pesos were diverted from housing construction.
- The case puts Sergio and Pablo Schoklender and former officials Julio De Vido and José López on trial for alleged fraud, while a separate money-laundering tranche tied to the same funds will be tried later.
