Mass Missile and Drone Wave Strikes Kharkiv as Daytime Attacks Hit Dnipropetrovsk

The assault shows a continued Russian effort to knock out energy and civilian infrastructure to cause outages and delay repairs pending bomb-disposal clearance.

Overview

  • On the night of June 8–9, Russian forces struck Kharkiv and nearby Chuhuiv with two Kh-59/69 missiles and about 166 drones in a single wave.
  • Ukraine's air defenses reported shooting down roughly 146 of those drones while Kharkiv officials said 15 people were wounded, including two children.
  • Local officials said Chuhuiv suffered at least three deaths and three wounded from the same overnight strikes.
  • Earlier on June 8, Dnipropetrovsk region endured more than 40 attacks with drones and artillery that killed one person, injured ten others, and damaged homes, businesses and vehicles.
  • Kryvyi Rih saw Shahed drone hits on industrial facilities with no casualties reported, while DTEK said more than 30,000 customers in Dnipropetrovsk lost power and repairs remain paused until bomb-disposal teams clear unexploded ordnance.
