Maryland AG Declines Charges in March Baltimore SWAT Shooting

IID investigators concluded the officer’s shot ended a hostage standoff after the suspect fired at officers and wounded one.

Overview

The IID’s finding, announced May 26, closes the criminal investigation into the March 10 shooting in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue.
During the March 10 standoff, Jonathan Ingram fired toward officers and struck a 13‑year veteran, who was treated with a tourniquet and released from the hospital the next day.
A 15‑year veteran SWAT officer fired a single round through an upstairs window that struck Ingram, who was pronounced dead at the scene and had a handgun found nearby.
SWAT officers rescued two women from the home after one escaped through a back window; both were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The AG’s declination follows the IID’s independent review and ends the criminal probe while leaving open noncriminal options such as civil claims or internal police reviews.
