Overview
- The social posts and a Reddit video that circulated on Sept. 20 show blurred photos, a censored letter, and muted dialogue where Mystique’s marriage to Tyger is referenced.
- In the subreddit clip the word “wife” is removed while background audio continues, a pattern that makes deliberate regional removal plausible rather than a simple audio glitch.
- Kotaku and Eurogamer have reported the user-provided evidence but Insomniac Games and Sony have not publicly confirmed any edits or identified which territories are affected.
- Publishers often alter content to meet local rules because same-sex relationships are illegal in multiple Middle Eastern countries, which creates legal and commercial pressure to change releases.
- This episode follows documented region-specific changes to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, raising questions about how companies balance global storytelling and compliance and signaling the need for independent verification of the alleged edits.
