Overview
- A show of Martin Parr’s last commission opened at the Fox Talbot Museum in Lacock Abbey and will remain on view for a year.
- Parr produced the Lacock pictures for the National Trust during his final months and died in December 2025 after a multi-year battle with cancer.
- The work records everyday life in the village through events such as VE-Day commemorations, the annual flower show and a scarecrow trail to make a concentrated portrait of contemporary Britain.
- The exhibition is presented by the National Trust with Magnum Photos and the Martin Parr Foundation and is accompanied by a book with a foreword by Susie Parr plus a short film made during the project.
- Curators and Parr’s widow say placing the project at Lacock, where photography began, gives the series a poetic sense of closure and may renew public interest in his archive and photobooks.
