Martin Lewis Warns Sub-Cap Energy Fixes Are Briefly Back

Cheaper fixed deals could vanish before the July cap refresh.

Overview

  • Martin Lewis said a Middle East ceasefire has nudged some fixed tariffs below the April Ofgem cap and urged people to check now.
  • The Independent reports Outfox Energy at about 1.6% under the cap and E.on at around 0.1% under it.
  • Ofgem set the April–June cap at £1,641, roughly 6.6% lower than before, which saves a typical household about £117 a year.
  • Lewis directed those on standard variable rates to MoneySavingExpert’s Cheap Energy Club to compare offers and weigh their risk tolerance.
  • Analysts expect the July cap to rise, and MSE warns suppliers can pull or reprice fixes quickly when wholesale costs jump.
