Marriott and Blacksand Sign Deal to Build 10 Hotels in Saudi Arabia

The agreement will boost Saudi hotel capacity by adding rooms across Marriott’s luxury to extended‑stay brands.

Overview

  • In June 2026 Marriott International and Riyadh developer Blacksand signed a multi‑brand agreement to develop ten hotels in Saudi Arabia, delivering more than 1,300 rooms over the next four years.
  • Planned properties cover Marriott’s luxury, premium, select and long‑stay portfolios, including St. Regis, Marriott Hotels, Autograph Collection, Moxy, Courtyard, Residence Inn and Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy.
  • Projects are in design planning and early construction, with phased openings scheduled through 2030 and the first hotel targeted to open in Riyadh.
  • Blacksand and Marriott project the ten hotels will create more than 6,000 full‑time jobs and commit to a minimum of 60% of roles being filled by Saudi nationals.
  • Both companies say the deal will form a foundation for further joint expansion and align with Saudi Arabia’s push to grow tourism and diversify its hospitality supply.
