Marquette Adds St. Thomas Guard Nolan Minessale via Transfer
The Marquette High alum returns home with two years of eligibility to fortify the backcourt.
Overview
- Head coach Shaka Smart announced Minessale as one of two portal additions for 2026-27, joining Louisville transfer Sananda Fru.
- The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 19.8 points, 4.3 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals for 24-10 St. Thomas and earned First Team All-Summit, all-defensive and all-tournament honors.
- He posted efficient scoring by hitting 59% on two-pointers and ranking well in advanced shooting metrics that weigh twos, threes and free throws, according to KenPom.
- Marquette projects him as a secondary creator who can spell Nigel James and Adrien Stevens, with two seasons of eligibility and a roster now near full at 14 scholarship spots.
- Perimeter shooting is the swing skill, as he made 30.6% from three on 4.2 attempts last season after mid-30s rates as a freshman, which could shape spacing and Smart’s rotation.
