Rights monitors report a surge in drone attacks across Kordofan targeting crowded civilian areas.

Overview

  • Emergency Lawyers said drones bombed the al-Safiya market in Sodari on Sunday, killing at least 28 people and injuring dozens during peak trading hours.

  • More than 60 people were reported killed in drone strikes across Darfur, Kordofan and Sennar over 48 hours, including at least 26 deaths at a displacement shelter in El Sunut, West Kordofan, according to local accounts.
  • Recent incidents also include a strike near Rahad that killed at least 24 displaced people and an attack on a World Food Programme convoy reported the previous day.
  • The United Nations says Kordofan remains a volatile front in the war between the army and RSF, with the World Health Organization estimating at least 40,000 killed and 12 million displaced nationwide.
