Mark Harmon Returns as Gibbs for Nov. 11 NCIS–Origins Crossover Event

CBS will use a one-night timeslot swap to tell a single mystery that links a 1990s Origins case to a present-day NCIS reopening.

Overview

  • The first crossover between NCIS and prequel NCIS: Origins airs Tuesday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) on CBS with Origins at 8 p.m. ET and NCIS at 9 p.m. ET for one night only.
  • Per the official synopsis, younger Gibbs and his team probe a small-town death of a naval officer in the 1990s, and that investigation is unexpectedly reopened in the present day.
  • Mark Harmon will appear on screen in the Origins hour, marking his first on-camera turn since a brief cameo in the 2024 pilot and his exit from NCIS in 2021.
  • Both episodes will stream on Paramount+, with live and on-demand access for Premium subscribers and next-day on-demand availability for Essential subscribers.
  • Co-showrunners teased that present-day Gibbs is "no longer alone," and Harmon said he agreed to return after they pitched an idea he liked; he remains an executive producer and narrator on Origins.
