Marines Secure Up to $98 Million Contract With Polaris to Extend MRZR Alpha Fleet

Locking in support for a field‑proven fly‑and‑drive vehicle, the contract adds a 5 kW mobile power option that lets small teams run radios, sensors and edge computers without a separate generator.

Overview

  • The Marine Corps awarded Polaris Government and Defense a sole‑source IDIQ contract worth up to $98 million that can run for as long as five years to continue MRZR Alpha deliveries.
  • For the first time under contract the MRZR Alpha will be offered in a 5 kilowatt exportable power variant that supplies 24‑volt power while the vehicle is moving or stationary.
  • The built‑in 5 kW output removes the need for a separate fuel‑hungry generator and frees cargo space normally used for fuel and generator gear.
  • Units have adapted more than 500 MRZR Alphas to roles such as logistics, infantry maneuver, two‑litters medevac, counter‑drone, communications command and ground refueling for aircraft.
  • The sole‑source decision reflects the Corps’ preference to retain a proven, air‑transportable platform and avoid rebuilding the wide range of operator adaptations that Polaris and units have developed.
