Overview
- The Marine Corps published a Notice of Intent to sole-source Anduril’s Pulsar-L on Monday, Aug. 3, and set an Aug. 18 deadline for responses to a sources-sought notice.
- The move responds to an identified operational gap that leaves ACVs without an organic ability to detect, track, identify, or defeat small drones.
- The service’s requirement calls for a vehicle-mounted sensor and jamming package that can detect GPS- or RF-controlled small drones at 2–5 kilometers, jam them to about 2 kilometers, engage multiple UAVs while the vehicle is moving, and operate in maritime conditions.
- The notice requires the vendor to show production capacity of more than 50 units within 12 months and sustain deliveries to meet a planned integration start in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, but no contract award has been announced yet.
- The Corps cites Anduril’s recent large-scale Army contract and an approved foreign sale as evidence the firm is a proven supplier, a choice that should speed fielding but will limit competition and concentrate a key capability with one vendor.
