Marine Corps Selects GDLS and Textron for Next Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle Prototyping Phase

The Marine Corps is using new contracting flexibilities to speed pre-production.

Overview

  • The service awarded General Dynamics Land Systems and Textron a second rapid prototyping phase that moves the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle into pre‑production builds.
  • The vehicles are meant to replace the Light Armored Vehicle and give Mobile Reconnaissance units more mobility, sensing, networking, and firepower.
  • The phase covers three versions: ARV‑C4UAS for command and drone teaming, ARV‑30 with a 30mm cannon, and ARV‑LOG for resupply tasks.
  • Program leaders are using Other Transaction Authority agreements, a faster contracting tool enabled by recent reforms, to keep competition active and cut cycle time.
  • The Marine Corps targets first deliveries in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2028 and a production decision in the first quarter of fiscal 2031 after a risk‑reducing competitive prototype round.
