Mariah Carey Releases Expanded Digital Edition of Daydream for 30th Anniversary

The streaming drop exposes private writing-session excerpts that illuminate Carey’s creative process.

Overview

  • Columbia and Legacy released Daydream: 30th Anniversary Edition as a 33-track digital collection on Friday, July 17, 2026, combining the original 1995 album with unreleased tracks, rare demos, remixes, B-sides, acapellas and live performances.
  • For the first time Carey has authorised excerpts from private writing sessions for 'I Am Free' and 'Melt Away,' material she said gives listeners a direct glimpse into her songcraft.
  • The expanded package includes notable remixes and collaborations such as the Ol' Dirty Bastard–featured 'Fantasy' remix and versions of 'Always Be My Baby' with Da Brat and Xscape alongside extended mixes and B-sides.
  • Physical formats are scheduled for October 16, 2026, with a 3-LP, 2-CD and cassette release that will feature Carey’s full 1995 Madison Square Garden concert on vinyl and additional unreleased material.
  • Daydream is widely seen as a turning point in Carey’s career for blending R&B and hip-hop into mainstream pop, and this archival release is likely to boost streaming interest, drive collector sales and deepen scholarship of the era.
