Overview
- ZDF announced that Maral Bazargani will present the Morgenmagazin Frühschiene from 5:30 to 7:00 each day in the week of July 6–10, making her first on-air appearance in that slot on Monday, July 6.
- The broadcaster said Bazargani is scheduled to act as Philipp Wortmann’s substitute and is expected to cover the Frühschiene for up to six weeks per year.
- Andreas Wunn, head of ZDF’s Tagesmagazine Berlin, publicly welcomed the hire and described Bazargani as a competent and likeable presenter for news and interviews.
- Bazargani moved from elite sport to journalism after ending her athletics career in 2014, completed a Volontariat at SWR, worked on logo! from 2017 and has presented logo! since 2023 and ZDF athletics coverage since 2025.
- The change comes as the Morgenmagazin remains a key morning program for ARD and ZDF, with a combined H1 2026 audience share above 21 percent, and it adds depth to the presenter roster to ensure continuity for the early-morning slot.
