- Argentina’s flagship festival runs November 6–16 and opens with Bill Condon’s The Kiss of the Spider Woman, with Condon and actor Tonatiuh Elizarraraz attending; tickets go on sale October 23 at ARS 7,500 with discounts for students and seniors across Auditorium, Ambassador, Paseo Aldrey and Colón venues.
- The International Competition includes Pablo Trapero’s & Sons competing for the UK, Israel’s Oscar submission The Sea, Morocco’s Calle Málaga with guest Carmen Maura, and two Argentine films, La casa and Muña Muña; the jury features Juan Baldana, Paul Zaentz, Nashla Bogaert, Juan Carlos Arciniegas and Helher Escribano.
- A new noncompetitive Mar del Plata Series strand presents roughly ten titles, including Argentina’s Yiya and Spain’s Yakarta with guest Javier Cámara, alongside US series such as Landman and All Her Fault.
- Astor de Plata career honors go to Juan José Jusid, Marilina Ross and Miguel Ángel Solá, with restorations and tributes in Mar del Plata Classics including Jusid’s Los gauchos judíos, La Raulito and Rosaura a las diez.
- Running November 6–11 at Teatro Enrique Carreras, the independent Fuera de Campo showcases Argentine films, 16mm screenings and talks, and its organizers publicly criticize INCAA leadership over funding and distribution policies.
