Mantle Moves $2.5 Billion Super Portal to Chainlink as Exodus from LayerZero Tops $7.2 Billion

The shift reflects growing trust in Chainlink’s oracle-backed verification as a way to tighten bridge security by giving projects direct control over token pools

Overview

  • Mantle announced it is migrating its Super Portal, which moves MNT between Ethereum and Solana, from LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token standard and will suspend portal transfers for a planned multi-day migration.
  • Projects have moved more than $7.2 billion in cross-chain and wrapped assets onto Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol since May, a total compiled from public migration announcements.
  • The exodus picked up speed after a major bridge exploit earlier this year exposed flaws in some LayerZero configurations, prompting teams to seek oracle-based message verification and tighter operational controls.
  • Mantle and other migrating projects say Chainlink’s CCIP secures cross-chain messages using its decentralized oracle network and that the CCT standard lets them set transfer policies and manage token pools directly.
  • The wave of migrations underscores that bridges remain a high-risk part of crypto infrastructure and could lead to more planned suspensions, technical audits, and changes in custody and governance for tokenized assets.
