Man’s Body Recovered From River Tawe After Multi-Agency Search in Swansea

Police say divers found a man shortly before 1:30pm, with formal identification still pending.

Overview

  • Emergency services were alerted around 7:40–7:46am to reports of a person in the water near Fabian Way and Quay Parade.
  • South Wales Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Welsh Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and the RNLI coordinated a river and bankside search.
  • Mumbles RNLI launched its inshore and all‑weather lifeboats at about 8:00am to support the operation on the river mouth and upstream.
  • The Welsh Ambulance Service deployed an emergency ambulance, a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, an operations manager and a hazardous area response team.
  • The response caused significant traffic disruption on Fabian Way, and the callout comes a month after a separate River Tawe incident involving a 46-year-old man.
