Manipur Police Arrest KCP Cadre, Seize Arms Cache and Brown Sugar in Two-Day Raids

Officials describe the coordinated actions as part of an ongoing crackdown on insurgency, arms smuggling, drug trafficking across the state.

Overview

  • Security forces on February 20 arrested Chanambam Henba Singh, alias Lanchenba, a 21-year-old identified as an active KCP (PSC) cadre, at Tera Lukram Leirak under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West.
  • The same day, police recovered a significant cache at the Chingkhei Ching foothill area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East, including a .303 rifle, a .22 rifle and a 9 mm SMG carbine.
  • Seized explosives from the cache included two hand grenades, a WP No. 80 MK-1 grenade, an improvised bomb, multiple magazines, 57 live rounds, SLR shells and tube launchers.
  • On February 19, security forces intercepted a four-wheeler at the T. Khullen Naka Check Point under Senapati Police Station and arrested two Kakching district residents, Rahish Khan, 22, and Mustakim Ahamad, 23.
  • From the intercepted vehicle, authorities seized 48 soap cases containing 660 grams of brown sugar along with the vehicle, two mobile phones and Aadhaar cards, with details shared by Manipur Police on X.
