Manipur Forces Seize Arms Near Myanmar Border, Raze Six Illegal Bunkers

The moves signal a sustained push to choke cross-border gunrunning along Manipur’s unfenced Myanmar frontier.

  • Security forces recovered an AK-47, a carbine, four improvised explosive devices and two radio sets near Moreh in Tengnoupal, and engineers destroyed the IEDs in place.
  • In a separate operation, troops demolished six illegal bunkers in Kangpokpi at Tingpibung, Lungter Hill and Leplen under Saikul police station.
  • Teams also collected 12 empty 7.62 mm cartridge cases from the bunker sites, according to police.
