Manipur Forces Arrest Five Near Myanmar Border, Recover IED Cache

Officials attribute the action to intelligence-led sweeps targeting extortion networks along the Indo-Myanmar frontier.

  • The arrests were made Sunday between Border Pillars 73 and 75 in the Moreh police station area of Tengnoupal district, police said.
  • Those held were identified as Thangjam Ashok Kumar Singh and Laishram Nipamacha Singh (PREPAK), Thangjam Manimatum Meitei (KYKL), and Laishram Inao Singh and Chingangbam Shakti Singh (KCP‑MFL).
  • In a separate operation in the Boljang Hill range, security forces recovered eight IEDs, a pistol with magazine, an improvised mortar, two Motorola radios with batteries, and nine live rounds.
  • Police said the explosives were destroyed in situ under standard safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • A case has been registered, and officials say area-domination and cordon-and-search operations are continuing across vulnerable zones.
