Overview
- A newborn referred to as "Baby Angelita" was found dead on Aug. 1 on the 100 block of Struve Road and a postmortem exam found signs of traumatic injury.
- A Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for an unnamed 14-year-old on suspicion of murder after investigators say she gave birth alongside the road and left the infant.
- Investigators say 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez is the biological father of both the teenager and the newborn and he is wanted on multiple felony charges including incest, lewd acts with a child, unlawful sexual intercourse, child concealment and child endangerment.
- Detectives used Flock automated license-plate reader data to track a beige 2010 Mercury Milan and within 53 hours developed leads that helped identify people connected to the case and recover the vehicle.
- Authorities say Perez is believed to be concealing the 14-year-old, warn the public not to approach him, and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Sgt. Nicholas Kennedy or Detective Richard Geng because the investigation is active and the allegations have not been proven in court.
