- Mangrove Lithium, which held a ribbon-cutting Thursday in Delta, B.C., launched a refinery designed to supply battery-grade lithium for about 25,000 electric vehicles a year.
- Ottawa conditionally approved up to $21.9 million through its critical-minerals program, saying the added capacity will cut reliance on foreign refiners.
- British Columbia provided $3 million, and the Delta site employs about 75 people, according to the company.
- Mangrove says its electrochemical process uses electricity in place of some chemicals to reduce waste, with first output expected in the summer and fall.
- Beyond the B.C. plant, the company has announced a larger Eastern Canada facility that remains in planning.
