- The club announced on Monday that it bought a 25‑acre triangular plot from Indurent, a Blackstone portfolio company, giving United control of the bulk of land needed for the project.
- The site lies between Wharfside Way, Europa Way and John Gilbert Way about 350 metres north‑west of Old Trafford and means the club no longer needs to acquire the adjacent Freightliner terminal.
- With the land secured, Foster + Partners can restart detailed stadium design and the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation will publish the wider masterplan and open a formal public consultation on July 9.
- Major outstanding tasks include buying any remaining parcels, finalising private financing and obtaining planning permission before construction can begin, which the club has previously estimated would take around five years.
