Overview
- Platforms 1–12 are shut from February 14–22 with only limited westbound trains using platforms 13–14, and the concourse remains open.
- Services are diverted or curtailed, with Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry terminating at Stockport and others routed to Manchester Victoria or Oxford Road alongside extensive rail-replacement buses.
- TfGM is accepting rail tickets on Bee Network buses and Metrolink, and extra 192 buses are running between Manchester and Stockport to bolster links.
- Engineers are renewing nearly 1 km of railway by replacing 11 sets of points, laying 9,000 m of new cabling, upgrading timber sleepers to concrete, renewing 5,500 tonnes of foundation stone and modernising signalling and lineside equipment.
- Passengers are urged to plan ahead as direct trains to Manchester Airport via Piccadilly are suspended and services are expected to be busy, with additional short closures scheduled on March 1 and March 22.
