- In March 2025 the court heard Jessie James Tumaliuan forced entry to his estranged wife’s Werribee home, chased her into the backyard and stabbed her, with CCTV and a post-mortem recording eight stab wounds and a fatal neck injury.
- The Victorian Supreme Court on Wednesday sentenced Tumaliuan to 26 years’ jail with parole eligibility after 20 years.
- Court records show Tumaliuan repeatedly breached intervention orders from 2017 to 2025, had prior convictions for criminal damage and unlawful assault, and was on bail at the time of the killing.
- Justice Amanda Fox said the attack was driven by grievances over money, contempt for police and jealousy that his partner was living independently, and the judge found no real evidence of genuine remorse; reporting says he will be deported to the Philippines after his sentence.
