Man Sentenced After 150mph A‑Road Chase Caught on Police Dashcam

Police dashcam plus nearby CCTV proved he was the driver, exposing clear danger to roadworkers, motorists and officers.

Overview

  • The pursuit began at 1:22am on December 19, 2025 when North Yorkshire officers spotted a white Skoda on the A19 and followed it as speeds hit 130mph, 140mph and peaked at 150mph on A‑roads and a dual carriageway.
  • Officers authorised a cross‑border pursuit into Cleveland Police territory before boxing the Skoda into a dead end on Meadow Close, where both occupants were arrested at about 1:40am.
  • CCTV from the scene contradicted the driver’s attempt to avoid responsibility by moving into the front passenger seat and confirmed Muhammad Khaliq Rasool was behind the wheel.
  • Rasool pleaded guilty to failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and possession of 10 oxymetholone tablets; on June 4 he was given 30 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for 24 months, a 36‑month driving disqualification, rehabilitation activity and unpaid work plus court costs.
  • Reports differ on whether the court ordered 100 days or 100 hours of unpaid work, but police have publicised the pursuit footage, the drug was forfeited and destroyed, and officers said the case shows their willingness to pursue dangerous drivers across borders.
