Overview
- Emergency services were alerted shortly before 8:40am on Sunday after reports of a man in a well on Cheadle High Street in Staffordshire.
- The casualty was brought to the surface at about 10:35am after a coordinated confined-space rescue.
- Three Staffordshire Fire and Rescue crews worked with a Cheshire Fire and Rescue technical rescue unit, supported by West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police.
- Police closed the High Street and the public was asked to keep clear while crews operated with specialist equipment.
- Officials said the man fell around 30 feet inside a shaft that crews described as about 50 feet deep with water at the bottom.
