Man Named as Gino Robb as Byker Murder Inquiry Intensifies

Detectives have appealed for CCTV, dashcam and witness accounts to help build the active investigation.

  • A 25-year-old man, later named by police as Gino Robb, was found with stab injuries on Shields Road and taken to hospital where he died following a suspected assault.
  • Northumbria Police opened a murder investigation and have arrested six people in two waves with some released on police bail and others held in custody.
  • Officers are particularly keen to hear about two people seen on an electric motorbike entering and leaving Shields Road in the minutes before the attack.
  • As of the latest update no one has been charged and detectives have asked anyone with CCTV, dashcam or mobile footage to quote reference NP-20260616-1033 when contacting police or Crimestoppers.
  • Police remain in Byker and Walker to support the community and the victim’s family, and the force says further enquiries are ongoing as it seeks to establish a clear timeline and motive.
