Man Killed in Cold Spring Stabbing; Suspect Held at Stearns County Jail

Overview

• Officers responding to a reported assault found a man with a stab wound at a residence on the 400 block of 8th Avenue North and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
• A man at the home was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived and is being held at the Stearns County Jail while prosecutors prepare charges.
• The Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department is leading the active investigation with help from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota BCA and nearby agencies.
• Investigators have not released the victim’s or suspect’s names because the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office must first formally identify the victim and next of kin must be notified.
