Man Killed at Pontiac Block Party; Suspect Held by Sheriff’s Deputies

- A 23-year-old Waterford Township man was shot in the head at a block party on the 80 block of Mariva Street and later died at McLaren Oakland Hospital.
- The gathering had about 100 people and numerous vehicles, which deputies said slowed their initial movement through the crowd when they responded late Saturday night.
- While deputies were on scene a 23-year-old Pontiac man identified himself as the shooter, was taken into custody without incident, and a handgun with an extended magazine was seized as evidence.
- The suspect is lodged at the Oakland County Jail and any charges will be filed only after the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the active investigation.
