Overview
- The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday when a newer-model white Volvo SUV pulled up and fired about 10 rounds into a parked car, killing a man in his 30s and wounding his mother.
- Two of the four people in the car were struck, a back-seat passenger remains at the scene cooperating with investigators, and the driver of the victims’ car fled on foot and has not been found.
- Deputies recovered video and still images of a suspected SUV, deployed drones to sweep a nearby woodline for injured people or the fleeing driver, and believe the SUV fled east toward the Kitty Hawk area.
