Man Killed and Mother Wounded After White SUV Fires Into Car on San Antonio Northeast Side

An active search uses drones, surveillance images, witness interviews to locate the fleeing driver.

Overview

  • The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday when a newer-model white Volvo SUV pulled up and fired about 10 rounds into a parked car, killing a man in his 30s and wounding his mother.
  • Two of the four people in the car were struck, a back-seat passenger remains at the scene cooperating with investigators, and the driver of the victims’ car fled on foot and has not been found.
  • Deputies recovered video and still images of a suspected SUV, deployed drones to sweep a nearby woodline for injured people or the fleeing driver, and believe the SUV fled east toward the Kitty Hawk area.
  • Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators have not established a motive but do not think the shooting was random and noted the number of rounds suggests a high level of anger.
  • Officials urged residents and businesses to check surveillance cameras and call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 210-335-6000 with any information or footage.
