Man Killed After Car Crashes Into Tipton Takeaway

West Midlands Police’s serious collision unit has opened an inquiry and is seeking CCTV and witness footage to establish how the crash occurred.

Overview

  • A Honda Civic hit the front of a takeaway on High Street in Princes End, Tipton, just before 10.20pm on Tuesday and the 48-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Emergency crews including six ambulances, HART paramedics and a MERIT trauma team treated occupants and a passing cyclist before taking injured people to local hospitals.
  • A female passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital while two girls with potentially serious injuries were conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
  • Two boys suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital together, and a passing cyclist received minor treatment and was discharged into relatives’ care.
  • West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit closed the road overnight, has reopened it, and is asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage or witness information to contact 101 quoting 6172 of June 2.
