Overview
- A 36-year-old passenger chased a white Ford pickup after it allegedly sideswiped his Jeep and was dragged and run over when the truck accelerated, police said.
- Redwood City officers were called just after 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday and emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.
- Investigators used surveillance video and a police drone to locate and seize the abandoned pickup as evidence.
- The driver, identified as 32-year-old Lazaro Gregorio Chacajlux of Redwood City, surrendered the next day and was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in death and gross vehicular manslaughter.
- The San Mateo County Coroner has not released the victim’s name and police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Redwood City Police Department as the investigation continues.
