Overview
- Emergency services were called at about 11:03am on Friday, May 22, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a heavy goods vehicle on Clapham High Street, and the man was pronounced dead at 11:36am.
- London Ambulance Service sent crews, paramedics in fast-response cars and London's Air Ambulance, but medics were unable to save the casualty.
- Police have cordoned the scene with a blue forensic tent and closed the road between Nelsons Row and Tremadoc Road while specialist collision teams carry out on-site investigation work.
- At least five bus routes — 50, 88, 155, 322 and 345 — have been diverted and nearby shops were reported closed, leaving heavy local traffic and disruption for commuters and businesses.
- The Metropolitan Police asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact 101 quoting CAD2859/22MAY26 or call the North Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness line on 020 7960 8044, and confirmed next of kin have been informed.
