Man in His 50s Critically Injured After Three-Vehicle Crash on R132

Overview

• A three-vehicle incident on the R132 at Smithstown, Julianstown left the driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 50s, in critical condition after he was struck while standing at the rear of his car.
• The collisions happened in two stages when, at approximately 02:06am, Vehicle 2 hit the rear of Vehicle 1 and both pulled to the left, and about ten minutes later Vehicle 3 struck the rear of Vehicle 2.
• The drivers of Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 3 were reported uninjured and the injured man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where he remains in a critical condition.
• Forensic Collision Investigators have preserved the scene and local diversions remain in place as Gardaí conduct an active investigation and appeal for anyone who travelled the R132 between 01:20am and 02:20am to contact Ashbourne Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
