Man in His 20s Raped in Padworth Common Car Park as Police Launch Appeal

Police say dash-cam footage and sightings of a red vehicle could be crucial to identifying the attacker.

Overview

  • The attack was reported at about 6.30pm on Thursday, July 9, when a man in his 20s was approached from behind and raped in the Padworth Common Nature Reserve car park.
  • During the assault the offender stole £50 from the victim's pocket and then fled the scene.
  • Detectives leading the inquiry say they have only a minimal suspect description of a man who spoke with a local accent and wore white shoes.
  • Thames Valley Police are asking motorists with dash-cam footage and anyone who saw a red vehicle in the area to contact them and have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community.
  • The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers and investigators say community-sourced evidence will be vital because physical descriptions are limited.
