Overview
- Police say a masked young man ran up to and threatened multiple people in Center City during a roughly 15–20 minute span on Aug. 12, filming some encounters with a cellphone.
- A female jogger told officers the suspect asked her “Are you ready to die?” chased her and she injured her leg while fleeing, and she is the only victim so far to come forward.
- Surveillance shows the suspect entering a Dunkin' on the 1500 block of Chestnut at about 5:20 a.m., being refused service for wearing the mask, and later fleeing toward Suburban Station.
- Police described the suspect as a thin Black male about 5'8" and 16–20 years old wearing a distinctive 'Chucky' doll Halloween mask and a black face covering at times.
- Authorities released photos and video, urged witnesses to call a tip line, and said the suspect would face felony charges including terroristic threats, assault and reckless endangerment if arrested.
