Overview
- On Friday around 11:15 a.m., Transit Police went to Forest Hills station after reports of a man with a butcher knife threatening riders and a bus driver.
- Police say the man tried to stab bus tires, grabbed for an officer’s gun during a struggle, and the officer’s weapon discharged without hitting anyone.
- Micah Andrew Martin, 29, of Hyde Park, was arrested and on Monday was ordered held without bail pending a March 30 dangerousness hearing.
- Prosecutors filed 15 charges, including armed carjacking, assault with a knife, trying to disarm an officer, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
- Investigators are reviewing how the gun fired, while Boston EMS reported six people transported and the T briefly closed the upper busway as the Orange Line kept running.
