Overview
- The attack, which took place on July 3, 2022, saw a man posing as a taxi driver pick up a vulnerable 19-year-old and subject her to a four-hour series of sexual assaults including one at knifepoint.
- The victim escaped after texting a friend at around 9.30am who tracked her location, followed the suspect’s car and rescued her before police were alerted.
- Sussex and Metropolitan Police traced the suspect by vehicle registration, recovered items from his car, and used phone location data, vehicle-tracking and DNA from the victim’s clothing to link him to the offences.
- A jury at Inner London Crown Court found Ruckling Ramsay guilty of multiple counts including rape, kidnap and sexual assault on May 21, 2026, and he was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
