Overview
- Emergency crews were called around 11:52 p.m. Saturday after a neighbor reported a blaze and a person possibly trapped in a first-floor flat on Calle del Llobregat in Puig-reig.
- Firefighters sent six crews, searched the three-story building and told residents to shelter while a two-person team entered the burning apartment.
- The team found the occupant in the bathroom, and SEM medics attempted CPR at the scene but he died.
- A neighbor was treated for smoke inhalation and released on site, and residents later returned after crews put out the fire and cleared the smoke.
- The Mossos d'Esquadra opened an inquiry into the cause of the fire, and officials have not identified an origin yet.
